Finish Perplexus with a Few Skips

July 1st, 2010

Owing to Perplexus’ maze, we at Perplexus’ nerve centre have spent a lot of time trying to find new tricks and ways to cheat to solve this extraordinarily addictive puzzle. If you’ve purchased a Perplexus and you’re attempting to conquer it we thought we’d offer you a little aid.

You can earn back your lost glory if you have tried out everything but yet haven’t succeeded finishing the Perplexus, there is a solution now, we have engineered a few methods of skipping certain steps which will help you inch closer to the finish line. These tricks are meant for those people who don’t wish to be beaten by a child’s puzzle. In the beginning skip step 13 to step 26 by tumbling down from the purple ledge instead of moving around it, this will bring you directly to the yellow step 26. It is a very basic tip yet a very good one nevertheless.

The second tip you will be receiving from us will be the final one. This is simpler and easier that the first one and you will be closer to the end of the jumble. It’s a skip from step 40 to step 88 and rely on us it’s worthwhile. As soon as you are on step 40 interrupt the rule and don’t go on to step 41, simply tip the Perplexus 90 degrees to the right and there, you will end up on step 88. This is all you should do to come closer to the finish. After carrying out the above described points, you have managed to reach the end of the maze which is followed by a sense of achievement. This sense could be short lived because a true Perplexus Champion honestly finishes the maze from step 1 to step 100 without any shortcuts.

Despite the fact that we recommend finishing the Perplexus truthfully and entirely if you have found any more cheats or skips please touch upon this blog as we would love to hear about them.

For the time being, happy perplexing.

Dropping to Lower Limit

June 11th, 2010

I’ve always tended towards playing the average $1 / $2 table of no limit poker. Something about that set up, with my bankroll and my comfort level in betting, has always fit well there. The swings are bigger than playing in the small places, but you can also gain good ground when things are running your way, and the level of poker play tends to be a bit better up there, so that you’re not constantly getting donkey kicked. You earn your pots.

Recently, though, I decided for a change up to drop down to a micro level just to see how things would feel. Though my bankroll affords me to play the bigger game, I realized that in playing something like .25 / $.50 no limit, or even .05 / $.10, I picked up an even greater level of feeling free, where I opened the door to go with my gut in spots I might be more cautious about at higher levels.

Bluffing, for instance, when you know a raise will probably pick up the pot, is harder when if you are wrong it means $30 or $50, whereas at the lower levels you can make the same move and be a much smaller bite. Depending on what you’re used to, dropping down a bit to feel that freedom, and see how it works, can do wonders for your confidence and your understanding of the feel and mechanics of the poker online game.

Top Three Arguments for Sit N Gos

April 14th, 2010

There are many ways to put your money to work in the poker world. Literally with dozens of types of games at your fingertips, it’s hard to know what is the best way to invest. Cash games are fun, large pool poker online tournaments pay out large, and so on. But many players have found that focusing on single table sit n go’s to build your stack is a great way to get a bankroll fattened in a hurry. 1. Small cost Though there is a wide variety of entry prices, you are getting a good ratio of return on whatever your buy in is. When you only have to beat nine other poker players, your odds of making the money are higher, for less investment. 2. Short duration The smaller amount of time required to finish a sit n go makes it attractive in that it minimizes the bad beat factor. Nothing worse than putting in a couple hours on a big tournament and then getting sucked out for a big pot right before the money. Here, getting sucked out still hurts, but since you can play more games in less time, that probability is decreased. 3. Learning the players At big tournaments you get moved a lot. Here you see the same faces throughout, enabling you to focus on them as players, not just as icons. Good to study up.

Resteal Fold

March 16th, 2010

Restealing from the blinds is a popular tournament move. When action has folded around to a late position poker player, they’ll be opening the pot with a wide range of hands, expecting the blinds will fold. If you have the chips, a nice 3bet from the blinds could often win you the pot. But what happens when you’re both so deeply stacked that your opponent can 4bet you over the top? The resteal works a lot better when your 3bet is a hefty shove over the opening raise. When you’re sitting with about 12-18 big blinds, you can’t afford to bet any less, so you either have to shove or fold. By not having the deep stack of chips to 3bet with, you’re not re-opening action; when your 3bet is a shove, you’re closing off all the raising online poker games. If you’re right you win the pot, if you’re wrong, you probably have at least 30% chance to win. But when you have a lot of poker online chips, when does a 3bet resteal cease to be a bluff? Even with a high pair like 10s or JJ, a 4bet will put you in a spot where you could be crushed or coin-flipping for your tournament life. QQ, KK, AA, AK, AQ, KQ all have you flipping or crushed, but you have small pairs and bluffs beat. In the NAPT high roller shootout event final table, 3-handed was a resteal haven. The blinds were 2500/5000. Ashton Griffin was in the SB, Hoyt Corkins was in the BB, and Joe Cassidy was on the button. Cassidy raised to 11k. Griffin folded from the SB. Corkins 3bet from the BB for about 27k. Cassidy used his 45BB stack and shoved all in for about 230K. Hoyt had him barely covered and ended up folding his hand. With that many chips, I think Jacks go into the muck and 10s or less go flying into the muck. Even though those are good hands, your amount of chips turns that resteal 3bet into a semibluff. When put to the test, it’s hard to be sure you’re ahead.

Check-shoving with a Flush Draw Knowing You’ll Get Called

February 26th, 2010

A flush draw is one of the trickiest poker online hands in NL Texas Holdem poker online . Here’s a strange fact: once you have a flush draw Texas Holdem poker, it is easier to catch than a straight draw (which is a more common hand with a lesser value). So the flush is Texas Holdem is a very sought after hand, with the exception of one thing; it’s obvious. Unlike a set, where your hand is completely disguised, when a player has a flush in this game, three cards of the same suit must be displayed on the board, which makes suited boards scary. When you see a suited board you either become uncomfortable with your (one pair-type) hand, or you are excited with your draw or even just the possibility of representing the draw. Essentially, if no one has the flush then the advantage of a suited flop goes to the player with less doubt. If that flush makes it and you have the confidence to bet, there is a good chance of winning the pot and getting a better hand to fold. By the same token, if you actually do hit your flush draw, it is sometimes so obvious that your opponent will not pay off any further betting. So, in a 5-table tournament I was playing, we were short handed at 3 tables and I was faced with all of these thoughts when I flopped a flush draw. My stack was just under 4,000 and the blinds were 100/200. I had about 20 big blinds and was in the big blind. A middle position player made a small raise to 550 and the button called. This made it only 350 more to me to call into a pot of 1400. Even though I’m out of position, this is worthwhile. I will still have about 17 BB’s if I miss the flop and will be behind the blinds after one hand. So, I call. The horror strikes when I flop my flush draw. The flop is 8d-As-3d. The pot is 1650 and I have about 3400. I’m assuming someone had me beat with the ace. I have a few options. If I lead out with a bet, I risked getting flat called. The reason I say risk is because with my draw, I don’t really want to see the cards come one at a time. If I miss on the turn, I’m pretty pot committed to a hand that I now only have a less than 20% chance at winning. Conversely if I hit my draw, the players behind me might get wise to the possible flush out there and slow down or give up. In this case, my flush draw has no implied odds, I can only expect to win what’s in the pot.

Sit Back

February 2nd, 2010

The key isn’t necessarily gathering your chips, but it’s really a matter of taking care of the chips that you have. One of the most common misconceptions is that you need to gather all of your chips from your other opponents throughout the game. While your aim is to end up with all the chips eventually, your first goal in a poker online tournament should be to finish in the money. Basically, you’re just trying to outlast your opponents. If third place pays out $300, you get $300 whether you knocked out all of your opponents or you let everyone else do the dirty work.

It’s not always recommended, but if you aren’t being dealt the cards that you want don’t freak out and play desperation hands. Just sit back and let everyone else do the work for you. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that everyone’s playing against you. Everyone is playing against everyone, so if you don’t have winning cards, sit back, relax, and watch everyone play against each other. If you’re lucky, one or two poker opponents will get knocked out, and if you’re attentive, you might just learn a little something about how your opponents play their cards. Remember this when you play poker online.

The Bet-Fold

January 14th, 2010

It almost sounds like a paradoxical poker play, but in many situations the bet/fold can be one of your strongest allies.

In order to understand this concept, try to think of the bet fold as a defensive move rather than an offensive weapon. It’s essentially the antithesis of a checkraise.

With that out of the way, let’s look at how the bet/fold move can help you in a theoretic sense. There are three main reasons to bet/fold, and all three of them lead to the same conclusion.

If you have a made poker online hand, say second pair top kicker, or top pair weak kicker, and you see a board that presents danger to your hand (i.e. a flush board or a straight board), and you simply check and get bet at, you’re losing the opportunity for pot control as well as losing any information you may gain about your poker online opponents hand. In this case a bet will show that you have some strength. And if you get bet back at, you end up not losing as much as you would if you checked, called, got a decent turn card, and ended up check calling again. A bet fold, saves you the second bet you’d have to wager if you called after a second checkback.

Concluding, that same conclusion that all three situations have in common is simply that the bet/fold gives you pot control while at the same time giving you initative. Thus, any response your opponent gives you is more clearly defined, and you can fold more comfortably when your aggression is met with more aggression rather than having to counter their aggression with passivity.

Oh the mind games we play.
